Overview
The Audience Report provides details about the audience of a particular magazine issue. Audience Development Managers often use this to understand the recency, demographics, location and other data of their customers. This report was designed to follow BPA guidelines and to give you the information you need to manage your magazine audience and pass your BPA audits. Our Account Reps typically run this report 1) for all subscribers of an issue during an issue close and both the Account Reps and you may run the report 2) for a subset of subscribers of a magazine through Audience Builder (OnQ).
Regular vs Audience Builder (OnQ) Audience Report
The regular Audience Report provides data of all subscribers of an issue while an Audience Builder (OnQ) Audience Report provides data of some subscribers of an issue. An example of why you’d run the Audience Builder (OnQ) Audience Report may be to further analyze the qualified reserve (Class = 3) subscribers and see which ones to add to meet the upcoming issue’s target quantity.
In terms of layout and formatting, the reports are almost identical except the Audience Builder (OnQ) Audience Report lists only the records contained in the Audience Builder (OnQ) query for the chosen product. Additionally, the Audience Builder (OnQ) Audience Report provides “Customer Count” in addition to “Copy Count” for you to easily tie your results back to your original Audience Builder (OnQ) query.
Both reports can be exported into PDF or Excel formats. Unless you plan to cut and paste or manipulate the data, we recommend exporting the report in PDF for better display and printing. Your Account Rep will provide the Audience Report to you during each issue close; both you and the Account Reps may generate the Audience Builder (OnQ) Audience Report anytime.
Running an Audience Builder (OnQ) Audience Report
- Go to Audience Builder (OnQ), query a subset of your subscribers and save the query.
- Click Report > Audience Report.
- In the Audience Builder (OnQ) Audience Report window,
- Select the product.
- You have two choices for Data Source: Live data and Modeling data. Live data means you want to see the most updated circulation data of these customers for that designated report. If you choose Modeling data, you will have to pick the current issue of the magazine unless it is a supplement, in which case they can choose one of the two supplement issues.
- You can choose to report all subscribers as Active Qualified or not. If you select yes, it will report all selected customers as Active Qualified (Class = 1) in all reports except for Class/Type by Pay-Stat Analysis (the first page of the report). This option is useful to be able to see detailed information regarding Non-Class 1 records (such as Class 3 Waitlist records) that you are considering moving into Class 1.
- Audit Date sets the date the Audience Report will use to run. Most users run the report using “Next Audit Date” which sets your Verification Date Ranges up to end on your audit date. For example, if your next audit date is 11/30/12, your “1 Year” Verification Range would be from 12/1/11 – 11/30/12. If you choose to use “Today’s Date” to run the report, the “1 Year” range would start one year back and end with today’s date.
